Greetings, Friends of the First Congregational Church of Shelburne, UCC:
We are a community-based, faith-centered, and mission-driven congregation of Christians. As a United Church of Christ congregation, we are locally independent while being in covenant with the wider United Church of Christ. Our members govern by consensus or majority vote in all aspects of our ministry. Our vision statement guides us as we continue to discern our call to ministry: We are God’s hands on earth, who pray, share and welcome.
We are currently in a transition period with our pastoral leadership. During this time when we are in between settled pastors, our Pastoral Search Committee is working through our traditional process of seeking our next minister. Our part time Interim Pastor tends to Sunday worship, the major meetings of church groups, pastoral care and other ministries as time allows.
This past year has been a challenge for all churches and congregations due to the pandemic. We closed our buildings but not our ministries. Worship has continued through written Worship Resources, YouTube videos and parking lot services. We intend to begin in-person Sunday worship this Spring. We have participated in virtual Lenten explorations with other congregations and engaged in a number of mission projects. We have stepped up and into the world of virtual meetings and gatherings. We are looking forward to being back in our facilities and able to serve our community with hands on ministry that makes a difference in people’s lives.
Our congregation is affiliated with the United Church of Christ and the Southern New England Conference of the United Church of Christ
