Greetings, Friends of the First Congregational Church of Shelburne, UCC:
I want to tell you who we are. We are a church that is on the move-dedicated to the mission and ministry of the Shelburne community. We are a faithful group of dedicated volunteers who put the best needs of the church and the towns it serves at the forefront. We host outside groups in our buildings as well as provide worship opportunities each Sunday. We are here for significant moments in people’s lives, such as baptisms, weddings and funerals. We are here collecting donations for local food pantries, hosting community meals, raising funds to help the neediest in the world, and doing our very best to live out our mission. We are the heart of the community.
In the past few years we have gathered to create a mission statement and a Vision for our church. We are looking forward, and planning for our awesome future. Currently, we are in the midst of a Capital Campaign, where we are completing the tasks that were highlighted and prioritized. Projects are underway, and the work is happening. The
church is doing it’s very best to live into the Vision- and we take our mission to be ‘God’s hands on earth’ seriously.
But it isn’t all serious business. I think we have a lot of fun too. Worship is both meaningful and somewhat relaxed. We are traditional, yet informal. We welcome everyone, regardless of where their journey has taken them. We are not perfect. If you are thinking, or have thought about visiting our church—please come to worship, or any other event held at our church. I think if you do, you will be glad that you did. I know we will.
Rev. Will Sencabaugh (Pastor from August 2011 through June 2018)
